Bundlr - A new way for social bookmarking

Bundlr is a social bookmarking service developed by 3 young entrepreneurs in Coimbra, Portugal.
The objective of this application is to allow you to save all that information you enjoy and want to save for later projects, mentions or anything else.

Bundlr Home Social_Bookmarking

The interesting part it the way the information is saved.
It is organized in bundles. Basically, you can join all the information in one place, the bundle (in someway, like a folder), usually with a specific topic around it (for example, all your SEO articles you found interesting).

You can then share your bundles, either by exploring through the website (as long as you have signed up) or by embedding them on you blog/website.

Another interesting perspective is that you can use Bundlr as a collaboration tool.
How does it work? Well, you basically organize the documents you want in bundles and share them with your colleagues/friends, asking them to collaborate with you.

At the end of the day, Bundlr is a free, easy to use tool, that allows you to store all the information you want in one place and by folders (bundles), always having it available, anywhere you go.

Have you tried it yet? What are your thoughts?

Have you ever spend hours finding that one icon with good quality? Well, seems IconFinder is a site you definitely want to have on your bookmarks.

Pinterest: a new world!

Pinterest Logo SocialMedia

For those who haven't heard, Pinterest was the fastest growing social network in 2011 and continues to grow, with many business opportunities.

What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a vision board-styled social photo sharing website and app where users can create and manage theme-based image collections.
It basically allows users to store all their favorite images in one place and share them with their friends.
It's like those pinboards some of us had a decade ago (or more), where you pinned photos, tickets and other image-like stuff.

Pinterest Home SocialMedia

How does it work?
Well, Pinterest is still an invitation-only social network. For that, you need to go to Pinterest site (pinterest.com) and ask for an invite.
After you receive it's a matter of registering (either by inserting your info or using your Twitter or Facebook account) and start pinning images, saving them into pinboards.

As many other social sharing networks, Pinterest helps you on your task of pinning and sharing, by allowing you to install a "Pin It" button on your browser's toolbar.
With this, when you see an image you want to pin, it's just a matter of clicking this button and select the image you want to pin.
Quite easy and user friendly.

Another cool part of Pinterest is following people with similar tastes and check all the crazy, inspiring, motivating images they pin (well, let's face it, the "social" part of a social network).
You can comment, like and interact with other people's images and repin it to your own collections.

Here's a small video on Pinterest and how it works:

Mobile
Another cool feature about Pinterest is that its mobile app allows you to pin photos taken by you phone's camera on your boards and share them (with or without location) with your friends.

Why is Pinterest worth your attention?
Well, since its launch in January of 2011, Pinterest has been having an amazing increase.
Hitwise is reporting that it was the 60th most visited site in the US on the 3rd week of January and  with visits growing from 10 million to 17 million during the first weeks of 2012.

Pinterest numbers SocialMedia
When compared with other known social networks, this impressive growth is still quite visible.
According to a Shareaholic (that looked at an aggregated data from more than 200,000 different publishers, reaching a combined total of more than 260 million unique visitors every month), Pinterest is the fastest growing site in terms of referral traffic, compared to other social networks.

According to the same study, its volume of traffic is so great that if you combined the referral traffic of LinkedIn, Youtube, Google+ and Reddit, it still wouldn’t beat the growth experienced by Pinterest.

Final Thoughts
Summing all up, Pinterest is quite an interesting social network, that allows people (and/or brands) to share images of day-to-day life, products or other cool stuff in one place and share it easily with your friends and followers.

It is very easy to use and very user-friendly, they didn't go crazy with widgets or any other crazy features and, personally, I think it is one of the amazing things about Pinterest.

For a company, Pinterest has a lot of potencial, since it is a very cool place to share your product's images and make an interesting community around them - getting feedback on products, making campaigns and much more.

Remember that Pinterest is a rising star with an impressive growth and that the first to understand it, will have, in my opinion, a lot of good branding and business opportunities.

Take a look and let us know your thoughts on it.

iStockPhoto - Find all the images you want

All of us look for good images/icons on the web for our college projects, work projects, case studies, and so on. Most of us go through pages and pages of Google Images or other without finding what we are looking for (this happens a lot to me). This is where iStockPhoto comes quite in handy.

iStockPhoto Home Online

What is it?

iStockPhoto as a huge database of photos, animations, icons, videos, audio, illustrations and flash.
What started in 2000 with Bruce Livingstone as an alternative way of putting his photos in the market and selling it, quickly moved into a space where anyone can upload his/her high quality images and sell them.

It works by keywords allowing to mix and match whichever you want and filter it by what you want (just illustrations, for example), as well as for price range (in terms of credits - explained further in this article).

iStockPhoto PrintScreen Online

How does it work?

Well, as most online websites/applications you have to register yourself at no cost.
If you are looking to buy some images you have to buy credits (which is the site's currency) and then start buying.

iStockPhoto PrintScreen Online_2

You have different options here, either a pay-as-you-go (if you just buy images once in a while) or a subscription (if you buy them frequently). After you topped up you account with credits it's just a matter of selecting the images you want and buy them.
You'll immediately be given a link to download those images to your desktop. Quite easy.

If you are looking to sell your own images it's a matter of applying to be a Contributor. You'll then take a quiz and submit 3 samples of your work to be accepted.
It might take a while, but I believe it is worth the time.

Last Thoughts

Basically, iStockPhoto is an image market, with high quality material that really helps getting the job done.
It is quite flexible in terms of pricing which allows it be a good tool not only for designers.

Ever tried it? What's you opinion?
